Life and reign

Last active pharaoh of Egypt, of Greek Macedonian descent, who spoke Egyptian and several languages. Her alliances, and children, with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony sought to preserve her kingdom against Rome. Defeated at Actium in 31 BC, she died in 30 BC, and Egypt became a Roman province.
