Life and reign
King of Norway, of the Danish Glucksburg line invited to the Norwegian throne in 1905. A keen yachtsman, he sailed for Norway at three Olympic Games and carried the national flag at Tokyo in 1964. He is the first Norwegian-born monarch to inherit the throne since Olav IV in 1380.
