Henry VIII
Life and reign
Married six times and broke with Rome when the pope refused an annulment, making himself supreme head of the Church of England. He dissolved the monasteries, rebuilt the navy and left a fortified coastline of device forts. Three of his children, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I, later ruled.
