History of the House of Windsor

The royal house founded by George V by proclamation on 17 July 1917, when anti German feeling in the First World War forced a change from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. It has produced five monarchs: George V, Edward VIII, George VI, Elizabeth II and Charles III.
