Life and reign
Queen of Castile whose marriage to Ferdinand of Aragon united Spain. Their forces took Granada in 1492, ending Muslim rule in Iberia, the same year she sponsored the voyage of Columbus and decreed the expulsion of the Jews. She also founded the Spanish Inquisition.
