Longest reigning emperor in Chinese history at 61 years, he consolidated Qing rule, crushed the three feudatories, took Taiwan and checked Russia at Nerchinsk. He sponsored the Kangxi dictionary and embraced both Manchu and Han learning. His reign began the high Qing century of prosperity.
