Trajan
Life and reign
Optimus Princeps, the best of princes. He conquered Dacia in two wars, commemorated on his column in Rome, and his later war against Parthia carried Roman armies into Mesopotamia, bringing the empire to its greatest extent. He built markets, roads and a great forum, and his adoption of Hadrian secured a peaceful succession.
