Life and reign
Ivan the Great, grand prince of Moscow who tripled its territory, refused tribute to the Horde in 1480 ending the Mongol yoke, and married the niece of the last Byzantine emperor, importing the double eagle. He laid the claim of Moscow as third Rome.
