Nicholas II
Life and reign
Last Russian emperor, unprepared and unfortunate, whose reign brought defeat by Japan, the 1905 revolution, Rasputin at court and the collapse of 1917. He abdicated in March, and the family was shot by the Bolsheviks in Yekaterinburg in July 1918. Canonized by the Russian church in 2000.
